Tissue Paper Birch Trees

In this lesson the 3rd graders created a birch tree winter scene.  The sky was created using tissue paper choosing either warm colors or cool colors.  Class discussion centered around how each color group would make the viewer feel.  To create the natural look of the birch trees we put away our scissors and ripped the paper to give it a more organic shape.  While ripping the paper they were aware of the different sizes of trees to create the illusion of depth.

Chalk pastel spider webs

In this fun project the 3rd graders created a colorful spiderweb using chalk pastels and glue. Class discussion centered around how everything God created has beauty...even a spider web!  The students created the color by choosing a shadow color and a highlight color per section.
