7th & 8th Grade Photography Lesson.

In this lesson students will focus on creating their name with pictures taken representing the letters in their names. (A minimum of 4 letters must be used).
Make sure that you zoom in on the subject so that it fills the frame. If you have software you can enhance the photos by cropping it further.  Once you have all your letters photographed either print them out individually and glue them together to form your name or edit in computer software.

You may bring in the completed artwork when school resumes, or you may email it to me at dpettit@wbparishes.org
Below is an example of my name, "Pettit" done in picture letters.
Have fun

8th Grade Grid Drawing Lesson

Mystery Grid Drawing 1

This lesson will help you focus on looking at shapes to be able to draw an object.  You can print out the pdf for each grid drawing and use that for your drawing, or you can use a separate piece of paper and draw one inch square grids and label them as in the handouts.
Look at the images in each square then draw that image into the corresponding square on the empty grid.  Do one square at a time until you have the all the squares drawn.  In Grid Drawing 1 some of the squares are filled in for you....if you draw a new grid don't forget to add those too!  Send me an email with a pic of your finished drawing.  Have fun!  (dpettit@wbparishes.org)

Video Tutorial on how to add faces to finished mugs

You will notice in the video that their mug is a slab mug as opposed to ours which is coiled.  Other than that, the procedures he goes over to add the face will work just fine.

Think of the parts of the face as simple shapes...such as the nose being a triangle, or a teardrop.  Make the shape in a proportion that fits the face then score both the mug and the piece to be added, add slip to both, then push together.  Use a tool to smooth the edges and blend the piece and mug together. The video will also show you how to add a handle.  The video shows one type of face...you do not have to make that face!  I just wanted you to see the steps it takes to put it together.  Use your creativity to make your own!

The video will show you how to add a handle.  Make sure the clay is not really soft when making the handle.  It it droops it can be supported by using bunched up plastic bags until it hardens.  I suggest making the handle very last as then it can be set out to air dry.
Have fun with it!!!!

If you have any questions you can email me at dpettit@wbparishes.org. Let me know if you feel you have finished I will then instruct you on the next steps.
