This is a fun game that you can play by yourself or with family members.  All you need is a single dice, paper and pencil.  Roll the dice and draw the image that represents the number that you rolled.  When done, go ahead and add color, a background and more detail!  Have fun and send me your finished monsters!

1st Grade Pear Lesson

Instructions

I Can Statement

1.Today I will learn about SHAPE and SPACE, so that I CAN draw a pear. I’ll know I have it when my pear is round at the bottom with a thin steam and take up most of the space on the paper.
2. Today I will learn how to use the scoop method of painting so that I can add colors to my pear without washing out my brush. I'll know I have it when my colors on my pear are a mix of colors and my paint cups are not mixed with other colors.
3. Today I will learn how to blend the colors on the paper so that I can create a smooth transition between colors I'll know I have it when my painting doesn't have any hard lines between colors.
When painting the pear the student should use the scoop method of painting that was taught in class.  The first color to scoop with your brush is the white.  Scoop it on a brush and brush it onto the area marked "white" on the handout.
Without cleaning your brush get a scoop of yellow and paint the area the is marked yellow.  Blend the white on the edges between the yellow and white with a brush that doesn't have a lot of paint on it.  Wipe it off on a paper towel if needed.  Tempera paint dries quickly you may have to add more white on the edges to blend.  (This was demonstrated in class).  You don't want to see any hard lines between colors.  Without cleaning your brush add the green at the bottom of the pear.  Do the same procedure to blend the green into the yellow.
Lastly paint the stem and leaf.
Now wasn't that fun?
