St. Basil Cathedral

The 4th graders looked at pictures of the iconic St. Basil  Cathedral in Red Square Moscow. as inspiration for their drawings.  We talked about lines, and shapes and how to place one object in front of another to create the illusion of depth in a drawing.

The backgrounds were done using chalk pastel. They used multiple colors and blended them to create a whispy sky.

Shoes with Pattern Emphasis

The fourth graders had fun drawing their shoes...it's not to often that a teacher tells students to take their shoes off!  This lessons emphasis was on drawing from observation (you draw what you see), emphasis, contrast and pattern.  Can you recognize anyone's shoe?
